Scientists are developing wearable wireless sensor for monitoring daily routine of over weight people. The device is expected to keep track of the food consumed, workout hours at gym and whether you are skipping your park routine in favor of munching your favorite fries at the nearby fast food joint. The device is expected to expose all the lies which tend to get covered up under self reported answers.
Traditional weight loss interventions tend to be unreliable therefore researchers are working on creating devices which present the exact picture. The device under development is expected to be more sophisticated since it would include precise electronics and may be even video cameras. It may also offer instant feedback and personalized treatments for the wearer. One good thing about these sensors is that if it senses that somebody is acting lethargic it will instantly ping them with text message and ask them to get going.
These devices have been made possible by development in technology such as accelerometers which can measure the intensity and duration of workouts and Bluetooth cell phones which can capture images of meal taken and send the information back. Since accurate eating and exercise details could be captured with these wireless devices it would surely help in bypassing self reporting which tends to present half baked picture.
