WAC - Wearable Air Condition
Filed in archive Cool on June 22, 2006
First I thought it's nonsense but then.. My second thought was that I need this shirt right now. It's around 90 or more degree here for the last two weeks.
This shirt is air conditioned and gets power via USB or 4 AA batteries or the car power plug.
This ingenious idea is the brain child of Kouzi Ichigaya an ex Sony technician. At present half sleeve shirts for men and women are available with this unique system in Japan.
(my third thought was that I never saw an entry like that on smartmobs ;-)))

Where can I get a WAC?
How much time does it works with Batteries?
What is the output cooling power of the WAC?

These look like great clothes to golf in! I wonder if there will be a hat and shoes with the same technology. I'm also wondering if a safe heater version might be available for winter. Just have to make sure it's not a fire hazard!

That sure beats my version of air conditioning...a shirt with holes in the armpits! HA!

When I was a kid I had this really small fan. The fan blades couldn't have been more than an inch long. It ran on batteries. I thought I was really cool when I'd take it on trips or camping. Everyone else would be really hot and I'd just be a little bit cooler with my tiny fan. One time I tied it to the back of my neck, wrapped the top of my shirt around it and enjoyed the cool. This is kind of like that -- but way more advanced! Glad to see I was version 1.0 though!
