Textile against skin tears
With age skin becomes dryer and less elastic. This can be a reason for skin tears. Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO, Australia) has come up with a new medical textile to prevent this.

The textile is a mix of wool and lycra and can be worn constantly. It prevents the limbs from damage and because of the material it keeps warm too and is very flexible.

The smart textile research has been supported by Smith and Nephew who are international manufacturers of wound management products and will continue the support through the next stage.

However the next step for the product is clinical trials which will take 10 to 12 months, though if there is commercial interest, it could be on the market sooner.
