About Wearable Computing at The Techwear Weblog
Wearable Computing is one of the upcoming markets that emerge from a next step in computing. Computing power and functionality will be build straight into clothings and therefore will be allways around us - mostly hidden. Beside the early beginnings of Wearable Computing that looked like making Cyborgs out of human bodys, the "second wave" will be about fashion. Thats why we called the Weblog "Techwear". Weartech would be possible [...] Read More

Just a reminder that the impressive International Symposium on Wearable Computing 2006 in Montreux starts tomorrow and is worth a deeper look at. Even if wednesday starts a bit slow the topics are: # 14:00-15:00 Invited Talk * Augmented Human Perception: Interfaces to Enhance the Human Capacity for Perception and Expression * Masahiko Inami, University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, Japan # 15:15-16:30 Activity Recognition I * Towards Less Supervision in Activity Recognition from Wearable [...] Read More
Next generation computing at The Techwear Weblog
One of the "parents" of wearable computing is the theory of pervasive computing: computing power is completely hidden, you will even not recognize them. In the heart of computing - or better _the heart_ of computing is the chip. And here comes a technology that could change the way we see computing because the PC may disappear: A project that could remove the electrical wiring in microchips, allowing denser circuitry, could [...] Read More
the world of wearable computing at Creative Weblogging
This emerging technology has been around for a while - textiles and fashion combined with computing. And as it seems the industry is finally providing more than just case studies and morphes into real applications. Michael Domsalla covers this exciting area for us on our new Techwear Weblog. "The field of wearable computing is like a new continent - ready to settle. After many years were scientists created ideas of CyBorg-like [...] Read More

UberGizmo points out the Wearable Computing Fashion Show. Considering that I'm sitting here in a cheap pair of track-pants and a brand-name knock-off t-shirt that I bought because it was cheap when I was on holiday in Thailand, I'm really not the person to be talking about fashion. I do know, however, that the only way that wearable computing will take off enough to hit the mass market is if it [...] Read More
