Florida State's football team and Nike will step into the future with a new uniform the Seminoles will wear. Florida was one of 11 schools picked to wear the experimental uniforms. What makes the uniforms unique, according to Nike spokesperson Loren Hoppes, is that they are 37 percent lighter than traditional uniforms. The uniform pants also offer protective padding in the hips and tailbone.
The Maryland game uniform will feature a new design for the jersey number, a feather pattern on the pants and jersey and a black helmet.
Texas and Ohio State both said they will wear Pro Combat uniforms later this season.
Next season's FSU uniforms will be made from the new material but will feature the traditional color scheme.
