Hightech textiles – Network

Around 800 companies from 11 countries are involved in the "Network for textile Innovation" founded in Germany. The main aim is to restructure the traditional textile industry into 1) a cooperating network and 2) a high-tech industry.
They too think that the field of possible application is huge. If you look at what always exists:
- the "Mammagoose-Pyjama" against crib death
- "Life belts" for pregnant women to control the health of the unborn
- jackets that control important life functions
- "SMA Textilstents" who control blood flow trough articifial artery increments
The numbers are impressive too: in 1988 technical textiles stand for 8% of the textile market in Germany – today it's around 40%. No question, high-tech textiles are the future for our textile industries.
