Government awaken
The BMBF is the education and research ministry of Germany. And they decided to spend 15 mill. € for projects in Wearable Computing and Techwear.

The ministry already received over 50 project ideas and is quite sure to support around 12 of them. Germany is leading in "intelligent textiles" and the government hopes to push middle-sized companies, a very important factor in Germany.

For me this means that Techwear is now an official part of the hightech industry in Germany. Beside the fact that Europe spends a lot of money in this sector I ask myself if other countries do so too?

Press Release is in german, Website BMBF is here
