One of the famous IT buzzwords the last years was "Augmented Reality". At the BMW CeBIT stand I saw a great example for that concept. (please click the picture to enlarge)
What you might see is an animation layed over the engine compartment of a car. This animation works in real time and tells the engineer what to do and where. In this case to build in the intake port.
In real life this picture will be displayed within a head mounted display and can be handled with fingerfingertips on the virtual display symbols.
The demonstration was given by Laurent Chauvigné from the Pre-Service dept of the BMW group.
